The numbers are alarming:
🚨 Global employee engagement fell from 23% to 21%.
🚨 Manager engagement—critical for team success—dropped from 30% to 27%.
🚨 Europe has the lowest global engagement rate at just 13%.
🚨 In the DACH region, 39% of employees in Germany, 22% in Switzerland, and 20% in Austria are planning to leave their jobs.
What’s causing this decline?
Managers. When managers are disengaged, it ripples through the entire team, leading to reduced productivity, higher absenteeism, and declining performance. And as AI integration accelerates, the human factor is being neglected even more.
Instead of addressing the root cause, companies are still using outdated leadership practices and biased assessment tools. It’s like trying to fix today’s challenges with the same mindset that created them. As Einstein wisely said:
We cannot solve problems at the same level of thinking that we were at when we created those problems.
My Take:
Conscious leadership is the only way forward. It means recognizing each employee’s unique strengths and creating environments where they feel valued, supported, and inspired. It’s about moving away from rigid frameworks and fostering human connection, empathy, and adaptive thinking.
